American Bright Introduces High Intensity NOVALED
In New PLCC2 SMT Package For Strict Environmental Applications

Chino, CA VApril 29, 2005 American Bright Optoelectronics has announced the introduction of their NOVALED LED offered in a PLCC2 SMT package. The new design features high brightness in a wide range of color selections, including blue and white, from 470nm to 625nm, a wide 120¢X viewing angle (flat lens) or 40¢X (dome lens), and is considered ideal for existing and emerging applications such as signage, desk or work lights, stereo and instrument panel backlighting, and backlighting for larger screen LCD displays.
The NOVALED is available in two distinct structures, capable of being driven at 50mA, 120mA, and 400mA (InGaN),or 175mA and 350mA (AllnGaP), and can reach up to 35,500mcd (white) and 11,250mcd (yellow) in intensity. The new series is offered in the popular PLCC2 package, assuring reliable performance and quality conforming to JEDEC Moisture Sensitivity Level 2 specifications. The PLCC package measures a compact 6.0 x 6.0mm x 1.5mm height. Lens appearance when off is water clear (white provided in diffused lens appearance). All configurations are manufactured in compliance with Pb Free (RoHS) materials and processes.
American Bright's capability to provide the high light output at higher operating currents is due to the unit's low thermal resistance (about 20K/W for Rth (j/s)) which provides improved heat dissipation. The LED is suitable for both wave and IR reflow soldering.
